TRON Address Format: Complete Guide

Understanding the TRON address format is essential for anyone working with TRX or USDT TRC20. A TRON address is a 34-character alphanumeric string that always begins with the capital letter T. This format is derived from a public key through a specific cryptographic process involving the ECDSA algorithm and base58check encoding.

Structure of a TRON Address

A TRON address consists of exactly 34 characters using the base58check alphabet, which excludes easily confused characters such as 0 (zero), O (capital o), I (capital i), and l (lowercase L). The address always begins with T, which is the base58check encoding of the TRON network's prefix byte (0x41). The remaining 33 characters encode the public key hash and a 4-byte checksum that detects transcription errors.

TRON vs Ethereum Address Format

TRON addresses differ from Ethereum addresses in several important ways. Ethereum addresses are 42 characters long including the 0x prefix, use hexadecimal encoding, and are case-insensitive. TRON addresses are 34 characters, use base58check encoding, always begin with T, and are case-sensitive. Never send funds to a TRON address using an Ethereum wallet or vice versa — the networks are completely separate.

When in doubt about whether an address is valid, use our TRON address validator to check the format and checksum before sending any funds. The validator is free, instant, and requires no account.
